        "content": "<p>The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pidie Regency, Aceh\nProvince, has reported that seven residents died after being struck by a\nfalling tree on the Banda Aceh\u2013Medan national road in the Tanjong Krueng\narea of Sigli.<\/p>\n<p>Nasruddin, Head of the Fire and Rescue Division at BPBD Pidie, said\nthe incident occurred on Tuesday (11\/8) at around 9.00 pm Western\nIndonesia Time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA total of seven people were recorded as having died after being hit\nby a large kedondong tree that fell onto the road. The victims were\npassengers in an open-bed truck,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The seven victims were identified as Zubaidah (60), Nurmawati (50),\nRapasah (55), Patimah Wati (47), Salbiah (68), Zainabon (64), and\nHalimah (68).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the victims were residents of Gampong Puli Seke, Pidie District,\nPidie Regency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident began when the open-bed truck carrying the victims was\ntravelling along the Banda Aceh\u2013Medan national road in the Tanjong\nKrueng area. A large tree, believed to be old and suffering from root\ndecay, suddenly fell and struck the truck carrying the group from\nGampong Puli.<\/p>\n<p>BPBD personnel cleared the tree debris to facilitate the evacuation\nof the victims. Officers also recorded and monitored the condition of\nvictims receiving medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBPBD Pidie Regency urges the public to remain vigilant when passing\nthrough areas with large trees, especially during unfavourable weather\nconditions and when there is a risk of falling trees,\u201d Nasruddin\nsaid.<\/p>",
