Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Seven new commuter train (KRL) sets\nproduced by PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) Persero have suddenly been\ntaken into workshops for thorough inspection. The step was taken by PT\nKAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) together with INKA for the iE305\nseries.<\/p>\n
The inspection began on 7 September 2026 and is provisionally\nscheduled to run until the end of the month. As a result, KCI has had to\nadjust a number of Commuter Line journeys, particularly on the Bogor\nroute.<\/p>\n
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter (KCI), Karina Amanda, said the\ntrains undergoing inspection are the EA-207 CLI-225 type, or iE305\nseries, manufactured directly at INKA\u2019s factory in Madiun, East\nJava.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe at KCI, together with INKA, are currently carrying out a general\ncheck-up on the iE305 series KRL produced by INKA, starting from the 7th\nof September,\u201d Karina told CNBC Indonesia when contacted on Tuesday\n(8\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Karina explained that the inspection is not limited to a single\ntrainset. A total of seven iE305 KRL trainsets are scheduled to undergo\ngeneral check-ups in stages.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor now, because there are seven trainsets in total, we have\nscheduled it from the 7th to 30 September 2026,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The entry of the seven INKA-built KRL sets into the inspection period\nmeans KCI must rearrange its Commuter Line service patterns.\nOperationally, 17 journeys have been adjusted, all of them on the Bogor\nroute.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, so with the general check-up being carried out on the seven\ntrainsets, we have adjusted the Commuter Line (KRL) schedules, so at the\nmoment 17 journeys have been adjusted, and indeed all of them are on the\nBogor Line,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The adjustments have also reduced the number of weekday KRL journeys\noperated by KCI during the inspection period.<\/p>\n
Before the general check-up began, KCI operated 1,065 journeys per\nweekday. However, that figure has fallen to 1,048 journeys per day while\nthe seven INKA-built KRL trainsets are being inspected.<\/p>\n
\u201cPerhaps I should speak in terms of total journeys first, because the\nnumber of trainsets is quite dynamic. So currently, if before 7\nSeptember we operated 1,065 journeys on weekdays, then during the\ngeneral check-up of the INKA-produced KRL we are operating 1,048\njourneys per day,\u201d Karina concluded.<\/p>\n
Previously, a CLI-225 KRL derailed at Jakarta Kota Station on Friday\nmorning (4\/9\/2026).
