JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament,\nSetya Novanto, has paid tribute to the late former Governor of South\nSumatra, Alex Noerdin, describing him as an extraordinary figure.<\/p>\n
This was conveyed by Setnov after paying his respects at the home of\nAlex Noerdin, located at the residence of Alex\u2019s son, Dodi Reza, in\nKebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday evening (25\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was an extraordinary figure whom I greatly respect and am proud\nof, because he was a very strong person,\u201d said Setnov on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Setnov recounted that when he served as the chairman of Golkar in\n2016-2017, Alex was the chairman of the Golkar Regional Branch (DPD) of\nSouth Sumatra.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a person who had an extraordinary vision and mission for his\nregion. He developed the city, built infrastructure, and all of this was\ndone well,\u201d said Setnov.<\/p>\n
Therefore, Setnov said he was very saddened by the passing of Alex\nNoerdin.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd of course, we are very saddened, and whatever happens, we hope\nthat he will be accepted by God for all his sacrifices during his time\nin the city of Palembang,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
It was reported that Alex Noerdin passed away on Wednesday while\nundergoing medical treatment at a hospital.<\/p>\n
The body of Alex Noerdin is scheduled to be flown to Palembang on\nThursday morning (26\/2\/2026) to be buried at the Kebun Bunga Family\nCemetery in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
