The head of the Class IIB Serang Detention Centre, Rangga Permata,\nrevealed on Tuesday in Serang that the programme was designed to provide\na humanistic approach and moral support for inmates so they could still\nexperience the warmth of family during their sentences.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are planning a communal iftar between inmates and their\nrespective families. This aims to provide a moment of togetherness\nwhilst also forming an important part of the personality development\nprocess,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Rangga explained that in addition to facilitating family visits, the\nSerang Detention Centre had also arranged a packed schedule of spiritual\nactivities, including congregational tarawih prayers and communal Quran\nrecitation sessions within the facility.<\/p>\n
The programme plans were announced by Rangga on the sidelines of a\ncommunity clean-up event at the Ats-Tsauroh Grand Mosque in Serang.\nDuring the activity, the detention centre deployed 30 inmates who had\nmet administrative requirements to participate in community service\noutside the facility walls.<\/p>\n
The mosque clean-up initiative was intended to create a comfortable\nworship environment for the public, whilst simultaneously instilling\nenvironmental awareness values among the inmates.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith a clean environment and a schedule rich in religious values, it\nis hoped that inmates can serve their sentences with a spirit of\npositive change,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
