Sepaktakraw team set for Thai camp<\/p>\n

The Indonesian sepaktakraw team will take part in a six-week
\ntraining camp in Thailand ahead of the upcoming Southeast Asian
\n(SEA) Games.<\/p>\n
However, the team concedes that Thailand and Malaysia look
\nunbeatable in this traditional Southeast Asian ball game, and the
\nbest it can reasonably hope for at the SEA Games in Vietnam is
\nbronze.<\/p>\n
\"Thailand is unchallenged in the race for the gold. They hold
\ncompetitions throughout the year, while Indonesia normally only
\nhas short-term preparations (for major events),\" Indonesian coach
\nSomkiet Sungsatitanon, who comes from Thailand, said here on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
Thailand won all three sepaktakraw gold medals on offer at the
\nlast SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur in 2001, while Indonesia had to be
\ncontent with two bronzes.<\/p>\n
Sungsatitanon said the men's and women's teams, each
\nconsisting of 14 athletes, would hold a number of scrimmages with
\nlocal teams during its time in Thailand.<\/p>\n
\"The players lack competition at home. They need some game
\nexperience,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Yusri Pake, one of the men's team's aces, said the Thai outing
\nwas important because there were no strong opponents at home
\nagainst which they could test their skills.<\/p>\n
\"We were content with the bronzes in Vietnam,\" he said. \"A
\nsilver is all we can really hope for (in Vietnam) because
\nThailand is certainly poised to take the golds.\"<\/p>\n
The sepaktakraw competition at the SEA Games will offer six
\ngolds in the men's and women's team, regu and circle game events.<\/p>",
