        "content": "<p>Senayan closed to outsiders during rally<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Security authorities have established<br>\nregulations for people joining Sunday's mass prayer at the Gelora<br>\nBung Karno sports complex, and called on nonparticipants to avoid<br>\nentrance points to the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Central Jakarta Police Operation Control Command chief Comr.<br>\nP. Waterpaw said on Thursday that most sections of road<br>\nsurrounding the sports complex would be reserved for participants<br>\nof the gathering to park their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>They include both of Jl. Sudirman's fast lanes, stretching<br>\nfrom the Semanggi cloverleaf to the Senayan intersection, Jl.<br>\nAsia Afrika, Jl. Pintu Delapan and Jl. Pintu Gelora.<\/p>\n<p>Waterpaw said the closure would be effective from 5 a.m. until<br>\n3 p.m.. The prayer itself is slated to begin at 6 a.m. and finish<br>\nfour hours later.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will not ban people from entering the sports complex for<br>\nexercise, or stop them traveling on the streets around the venue<br>\nduring the gathering, but for their own convenience it would be<br>\nbetter if they avoided the area,\" Waterpaw said after a<br>\ncoordination meeting presided over by Central Jakarta Police<br>\nchief Sr. Comr. Mathius Salempang.<\/p>\n<p>Also attending the meeting were key members of the event's<br>\norganizing committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Central Jakarta Police have been appointed to handle<br>\nsecurity during the mass prayer.<\/p>\n<p>The gathering's committee member in charge of security, Tatang<br>\nHidayat, said there would be some 160,000 people taking part in<br>\nthe event. But police have anticipated an increase in the number<br>\nto up to 1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Waterpaw said participants of the mass prayer would be obliged<br>\nto wear Muslim clothing. Headbands, flags and banners are banned,<br>\nas well as any form of weapons.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be allowed to enter the sports complex from<br>\n5 a.m. through all entrances. By 3 p.m. the crowd should have<br>\nvacated the venue, Waterpaw said.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 2,430 police, military and civilian security troops<br>\nwill be deployed around the sports complex. The security<br>\narrangements concentrate on five main posts, including the<br>\neastern parking lot and all entrances to the complex.<\/p>\n<p>Of the security personnel, 1,000 are police officers, 400<br>\nIndonesian Military personnel, 300 Banser personnel, 300 Pagar<br>\nNusa pencak silat martial art fighters and 150 Garda Bangsa<br>\nMuslim organization volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Tatang said mass prayer participants from East Java were<br>\naccommodated at the Indonesian haj dormitory (PHI) in Cempaka<br>\nPutih and at several hotels on Jl. Jaksa, all in Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Waterpaw said the public could help the police in maintaining<br>\norder during the event, but for technical reasons they are<br>\nrequired to wear items identifying their role, which will be<br>\nprovided by police.
