Seminar planned on Bali handicrafts<\/p>\n
The International Finance Cooperation Program for Eastern
\nIndonesia SMEs (IFC-Pensa), together with the Indonesian
\nHandicraft Association and Mitra Pengembangan Bisnis, will
\njointly hold a one-day seminar and workshop titled The Future of
\nthe Balinese Handicraft Industry, at Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel
\non Jan. 28.<\/p>\n
The seminar is aimed mainly at providing input to the Balinese
\nhandicraft industry on the current situation faced by local
\nproducers, and on domestic and global market trends and the
\nfuture outlook for the industry.<\/p>\n
The seminar will bring together experts, designers, producers,
\nrepresentatives from a variety of financial institutions, small
\nand medium enterprise consultants, transportation services and
\nother related parties.<\/p>\n
The main topic of the seminar is to find the right strategies
\nin the face of global challenges and keen competition from other
\nhandicraft-producing countries.<\/p>\n
The meeting will also touch on topical issues including the
\nimprovement of design and quality, the procurement of raw
\nmaterial and marketing research for export-oriented products.<\/p>\n
The seminar will present four speakers, including founder of
\nPT Out of Asia Warwick Purser, former lecturer of the Bandung
\nInstitute of Technology Fine Arts Department Surya Pernawa,
\ndesign and production management consultant R. Susanto and
\npresident of PT Muevo Intersys I. Gede Bagia Arta.<\/p>\n
