Seminar on new GATT regulations<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The National Agency for Export Development
\n(NAFED) will organize a one-day seminar on the impact of the
\nnewly signed General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) on
\nIndonesia's business activities.<\/p>\n
A spokesman for the agency said that government officials and
\nexecutives of state firms, commodity associations and banks are
\nexpected to participate in the seminar, which will be held next
\nTuesday at the PPEI building on Jl. S. Parman, West Jakarta,<\/p>\n
The meeting will discuss various topics related to the GATT
\nregulations.<\/p>\n
Halida Miljani of the Directorate General for Foreign Trade
\nwill discuss new GATT principles and Riyanto B. Yosokumoro of the
\nresearch and development center of the Directorate General for
\nForeign Trade will discuss market access for non-textile
\nproducts.<\/p>\n
Other speakers will include Darry Salim, a former ambassador
\nto GATT who is now the Minister of Trade's adviser on textile and
\ngarment trade, who will discuss the integration of the Multi-
\nFiber Arrangement into GATT, while Mochtar of the research and
\ndevelopment agency of the Ministry of Trade will discuss ruling
\non anti-dumping and subsidies.<\/p>\n
Bambang Kesowo, a deputy secretary of the office of the
\nCabinet Secretariat, will discuss GATT regulations related to
\nintellectual property rights.<\/p>\n
The spokesman said the speakers at the seminar will also
\ninclude former director general for foreign trade Suhadi
\nMangkusuwondo, and economists Djisman Simanjuntak, Rizal Ramli,
\nMari Pangestu and Dorodjatun Kuntjaradjakti.(10)<\/p>",
