        "content": "<p>SembCorp eyes expansion<\/p>\n<p>SINGPOERE (DPA): SembCorp Industries Ltd., Southeast Asia&apos;s<br>\nlargest civil engineering company, is looking at South Korea,<br>\nMalaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia in its zeal to<br>\ninvest in deregulated power plants, it was reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;If there are privatised projects which meet our investment<br>\ncriteria, we will be interested in them,&quot; spokesman Kelvin Lee<br>\ntold The Business Times.<\/p>\n<p>SembCorp has identified power generation as one of its main<br>\nbusinesses, attracted by the sector&apos;s reduce reliance on the<br>\neconomic cycle.<\/p>\n<p>It is currently preparing a bid for a Singapore state-owned<br>\npower plant which the city-state&apos;s investment arm, Temasek<br>\nHoldings, expects to sell in the second half of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Other international companies including Union Energy Inc. of<br>\nCanada and Edison Mission Energy have also expressed interest in<br>\nbuying Asian power assets as they are freed up through<br>\nderegulation.<\/p>",
