Semarang touts 'old city'<\/p>\n
SEMARANG: Two Australian architects will survey the `Old City'
\ndistrict in Semarang this month to probe the possibility of
\nturning it into a tourist attraction.<\/p>\n
Slamet Riyadi, the head of Urban Affairs of Semarang
\nmayoralty, said that Richard A. Hosling and Ronald G. Boker are
\ncurrently in town as part of the officials' exchange program
\nbetween Semarang and Brisbane. The administrations of the two
\ntowns are currently working to establish "sister-city" relations.<\/p>\n
Slamet noted that Brisbane had already turned its old town
\ndistrict into a tourist attraction, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
Harini, the mayoralty chief spokesperson, said there are 60
\nbuildings, built during the Dutch colonial period, in the old
\ncity that are bound to be of interest to tourists.<\/p>\n
The mayoralty is also considering a series of festivals in the
