Jakarta \u2013 The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that the\nregistration period for the selection of prospective members of the\nMajelis Masyayikh for the 2026\u20132031 term will open from 1 to 10 June\n2026, organised by Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi (AHWA).<\/p>\n
\u201cMajelis Masyayikh plays a strategic role as an autonomous and\nindependent body tasked with formulating and establishing a quality\nassurance system for pesantren education,\u201d said AHWA Chairman Miftah\nFaqih in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
The Majelis Masyayikh is a body representing the Council of Masyayikh\nand functions to safeguard the quality of pesantren education, while\nensuring the distinct characteristics, independence, and academic\ntraditions of pesantren are maintained within the national education\nsystem.<\/p>\n
The selection of prospective Majelis Masyayikh members is conducted\nin accordance with Law No.\u00a018 of 2019 on Pesantren and the Minister of\nReligious Affairs Regulation No.\u00a031 of 2020 on Pesantren Education.<\/p>\n
Miftah Faqih said the process of selecting Majelis Masyayikh members\nis an important part of strengthening the pesantren education quality\nassurance system in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, the selection process must be conducted objectively,\ntransparently, accountably, and in accordance with the provisions of the\nlaws and regulations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
AHWA Secretary Achmad Roziqi explained that the selection of Majelis\nMasyayikh members refers to the Technical Guidelines for the Election of\nMajelis Masyayikh Members for the 2026\u20132031 term, established by the\nDirector-General of Islamic Education decision No.\u00a03972 of 2026.<\/p>\n
The technical guidelines are prepared as a manual for carrying out\nthe selection to run effectively, efficiently, transparently, and\naccountably.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe guidelines also stress the principles of legality, openness,\nimpartiality, legal certainty, and good public service in all stages of\nthe selection,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has sent letters to pesantren\neducation units and national-level pesantren associations to actively\nparticipate by proposing the best representatives who meet the\nrequirements as prospective Majelis Masyayikh members.<\/p>\n
According to the technical guidelines, the selection stages include\nregistration, document verification, announcement of administrative\nselection results, essay submission, public hearing, interview, up to\nthe determination of Majelis Masyayikh members.<\/p>\n
The Majelis Masyayikh members are an odd number, at least nine and at\nmost 17, representing the fields of Islamic religious sciences.<\/p>\n
Prospective Majelis Masyayikh members who pass the interview\nselection will be proposed by AHWA as candidates to the Minister of\nReligious Affairs for appointment as Majelis Masyayikh members.<\/p>\n
