Invest Selangor Berhad is preparing approximately 150 delegates for
the SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition, taking place on 9–10 July 2026. The
business forum is expected to serve as a catalyst for strengthening
trade and investment cooperation between Selangor, Malaysia, and West
Java, while also promoting supply chain integration across the ASEAN
region. The delegation, led by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri
Amirudin bin Shari, comprises government officials, business players,
industry associations, and investors from various sectors. Over the
two-day event, they will participate in an investment forum, a business
exhibition, and industry visits to explore collaboration opportunities
with partners in West Java. The event marks a new milestone for the
Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), as it is the first time
the summit is being held outside Malaysia, ahead of its 10th anniversary
celebration in October 2026. Invest Selangor Berhad CEO Dato’ Hasan
Azhari Hj. Idris stated that holding SIBS@ASEAN in Bandung is part of a
strategy to expand Selangor’s economic network across Southeast Asia. He
noted that the event reflects Selangor’s commitment to building closer
economic partnerships with ASEAN countries, particularly Indonesia,
which is one of Malaysia’s main trading partners. ‘The Bandung Edition
marks a new chapter for the Selangor International Business Summit, now
stepping beyond Malaysia’s borders for the first time. As we celebrate a
decade of SIBS’ success, we believe this is the right moment to bring
Selangor directly to our ASEAN neighbours,’ Hasan said in an official
statement. He added that the Selangor delegation is ready to build
cross-border partnerships, drive new investments, and strengthen
Selangor’s position as a gateway for companies looking to expand into
the Southeast Asian market. Bandung was chosen as the host city because
its economic characteristics are considered similar to Selangor’s. Both
regions are developing as industrial and innovation hubs, supported by
manufacturing, digital technology, and micro, small, and medium
enterprise (MSME) ecosystems. One of the main agendas is the SIBS@ASEAN
One-Day Forum on 9 July 2026, which will discuss opportunities to
strengthen trade and investment in the digital technology, property,
manufacturing, and logistics sectors between Selangor and West Java. The
forum is scheduled to be opened by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri
Amirudin bin Shari and West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi. The agenda also
includes discussions on strengthening the Malaysia–Indonesia supply
chain, investment opportunity presentations, and the signing of several
memoranda of understanding (MoUs) involving government, industry
players, the tourism sector, and educational institutions from both
regions. In addition to the investment forum, the SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung
Edition will feature a business exhibition in collaboration with Tourism
Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). Sixty
Selangor-based entities will showcase partnership opportunities in the
medical tourism and education sectors. For medical tourism, Selangor
will promote healthcare services including private hospitals, modern
medical facilities, and services for international patients. In the
education sector, various study opportunities and cross-border academic
collaborations will be introduced to participants. On the second day,
the Selangor delegation will visit several strategic industrial sectors
in West Java to directly observe investment potential and explore
collaboration opportunities with local industry players. Through the
SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition, Invest Selangor hopes to strengthen
regional economic diplomacy while opening new growth corridors in the
ASEAN region through cross-border collaboration.
",
