Security guard killed on duty<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A middle-aged security officer was killed on
\nSaturday night during a fight near a public telephone booth at
\nthe Cililitan bus terminal in East Jakarta, a police official
\nsaid on Monday.<\/p>\n
Quoting witnesses at the scene, police said that Freddy Gony,
\n50, was attacked by four men while he was on duty at a shopping
\ncompound on Jl. Dewi Sartika in East Jakarta, some 300 meters
\nfrom the bus terminal.<\/p>\n
A postmortem examination revealed that Gony received stab
\nwounds to the right thigh and died from excessive bleeding. Gony
\nhad also sustained abrasions to his forehead, but there appeared
\nto be no internal injuries, forensic expert Zulhasmar Syamsu said
\nfrom Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.<\/p>\n
A relative of the victim's, who asked for anonymity, said the
\nmurder was most likely motivated by feelings of revenge.<\/p>\n
\"He (Freddy) had worked very well as a security guard for the
\nlast ten years. Some people, who planned to create trouble in the
\ncompound, might have disliked Freddy's reputation,\" the relative
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He said witnesses had refused to talk to the police and had
\nleft Gony to bleed to death on the street.<\/p>\n
Police said the dead man's assailants were still on the run.
