Security guard arrested<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Anyone who plans to hire security guard services
\nare better off hiring personnel who have been trained by police
\nto guarantee their skills and personal conduct, South Jakarta
\npolice chief Lt. Col. Sisno Adiwinoto said over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Sisno made the statement after a security guard at Brawijaya
\nApartments in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, was arrested Friday
\nfor allegedly robbing a Japanese tenant.<\/p>\n
Sisno said the security guard had never been trained by
\npolice.<\/p>\n
Many police precincts in the city offer a two-week training
\nprogram which costs about Rp 175,000 (US$63.60).<\/p>\n
\"A comprehensive three-month program is also offered at City
\nPolice headquarters,\" Sisno said.<\/p>\n
The suspect, identified as Wen Kr, 29, allegedly assaulted and
\nrobbed tenant Toiman Soto, 55.<\/p>\n
\"Wen was arrested with the stolen goods in his possession at
\nthe apartment building about an hour after the incident,\" Sisno
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Wen had allegedly stolen Rp 640,000 in cash, a mobile phone, a
\nWalkman and two ATM cards.<\/p>\n
Sisno said the suspect had greeted Soto when he arrived at his
\napartment around 11 p.m. and followed him to his room on the
\nfifth floor.<\/p>\n
The suspect then told Soto to be careful because there could
\nbe a criminal hanging around in the building complex.<\/p>\n
Sisno said Wen entered the victim's room and demanded money.<\/p>\n
Wen hit the victim with an iron bar after the victim refused
\nto meet his request, he said. The victim rang his friend and
\ncalled the police after he regained consciousness. (cst)<\/p>",
