Security for 'lebaran'<\/p>\n

We have often been informed by the mass media about this
\nyear's Lebaran transportation. The Department of Transportation
\nis doing its best to fulfill public demand, either by providing
\nmore buses, trains, or additional lines.<\/p>\n
Seen superficially, everything seems to be in order. Of all
\navailable transportation means though, trains are the most
\npopular choice of the people. Trains seem to be the safest and
\nmost reasonable way of traveling to the public. However,
\npassenger comfort and convenience is often overlooked.<\/p>\n
On Lebaran eve last year I noticed that additional trains were
\ndispatched from Gambir Station to Semarang at around 22.30 pm. I
\nnoticed that three automatic doors were left open while the
\ncarriages were packed with commuters. Near one of the open doors
\na mother sat with a baby in her arms. This is very dangerous. And
\nwhat if it rained? I casually looked at the toilet facilities and
\nthe space was filled with luggage. The stench that came from this
\nquarter was obnoxious.<\/p>\n
I did not see many other carriages but many broken windows
\ncame to my attention, badly in need of repair.<\/p>\n
I hope that there will be fewer shortcomings this year. Aside
\nfrom making Lebaran transportation a priority, passengers'
\nsecurity should also be given attention.<\/p>\n
