        "content": "<p>Security fence at U.S. Embassy<\/p>\n<p>Referring to Brien Doyle's letter Security at U.S. Embassy<br>\npublished in The Jakarta Post on July 10, in which he emphasized<br>\nU.S. territorial sovereignty, we would like to respond as<br>\nfollows.<br>\n* The provincial administration of Jakarta Metropolitan City<br>\nunderstands and upholds the principle of state sovereignty<br>\ninherent in every representative institution of Indonesia's<br>\nfriendly countries, including the Embassy of the United States,<br>\nas regulated in the norms and stipulations prevailing in the<br>\ninternational arena.<br>\n* Politically and protocolwise, the embassies of friendly<br>\ncountries based in Jakarta, including the Embassy of the United<br>\nStates, fall fully within the authority of the government of the<br>\nRepublic of Indonesia, represented in this case by the ministry<br>\nof foreign affairs.<br>\n* In connection with the plan to set up an additional security<br>\nfence for the United States Embassy, the Jakarta administration<br>\nhas informed the Embassy of the United States of the prevailing<br>\nregional regulation on this matter, and it is our job to ensure<br>\nall residents of Jakarta comply with and adhere to all of the<br>\nrules stipulated in this regional regulation.<br>\n* In this context, the Jakarta administration has, after<br>\nconducting an in-depth study, provided the Embassy of the United<br>\nStates with an alternative technical solution for the<br>\nconstruction of this additional fence. In our opinion, His<br>\nExcellency Ambassador Ralph L.
