The Lampung Regional Police have expanded search efforts for five\njournalists and three crew members reported missing after losing contact\nwhile sailing from Carita Beach, Pandeglang Regency, Banten, towards the\nMount Anak Krakatau (GAK) area in the Sunda Strait.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe search area will be expanded to include several waters within\nthe legal jurisdiction of the Lampung Regional Police,\u201d stated the Head\nof Public Relations for the Lampung Regional Police, Kombes Pol Yuni\nIswandari, confirmed from Bandar Lampung on Thursday.<\/p>\n
She stated that this step was taken as a precautionary measure in\ncase the victims were carried by currents into Lampung waters.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are anticipating the possibility that the victims may have been\ncarried towards Lampung waters. We hope that through these efforts,\nthere will be a breakthrough and information regarding the whereabouts\nof our colleagues,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The Lampung Regional Police emphasised that they will continue to\nassist the search process alongside police units and SAR teams to find\nclarity regarding the location of the five journalists and three crew\nmembers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do not know; there is a possibility that information or news\narises that they have been found at sea. We hope our friends there are\ngranted long lives and are found soon,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Following the vessel incident in Banten waters, she noted that the\nLampung Regional Police and joint SAR teams have been deployed to assist\nin the search by patrolling waters under the Lampung Police\njurisdiction.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreviously, Marine Police personnel, along with Basarnas, DKO Mabes\npersonnel, and the Lampung Regional Police Brimob, were deployed to\nconduct patrols around Sebesi Island and several areas of Lampung\nwaters,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday (9\/9), we deployed two teams. The first team consisted of\nMarine Police, DKO Mabises, and Basarnas personnel. The second team\nconsisted of six Marine Police members and five Brimob members who also\nsearched Lampung waters, but no breakthrough has been found regarding\ntheir whereabouts,\u201d said Yuni Iswandari.<\/p>\n
She added that the Lampung Regional Police plan to conduct further\nsearches using boats. Additionally, aerial searches via helicopter are\nbeing prepared, provided that weather conditions permit.<\/p>\n
