SEAB customer's complaint<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A customer of South East Asian Bank (SEAB),
\nwhich was liquidated last November, has complained about the
\ndifficulty in recovering a large part of her savings from the
\nbank.<\/p>\n
The customer, Indrawati Halim, said she had only received some
\nRp 30 million of the Rp 100 million in the account, suspecting
\nthat the remainder had been embezzled by irresponsible bank
\nemployees.<\/p>\n
\"I don't know where else I can turn too. I keep going to SEAB,
\ntrying to collect my money, but those bankers are already gone,\"
\nshe said.<\/p>\n
Indrawati said she became a customer of SEAB in February 1995,
\nand that two of the bank's employees, Sien Cu and Lili, had
\nconvinced her to keep all of her money there.<\/p>\n
\"At first everything went well. I admitted that I didn't know
\nanything about banking, and so these two people guided me and
\npersuaded me to put Rp 100 million in SEAB,\" she said.<\/p>\n
SEAB was liquidated last November. The two bankers disappeared
\nand Indrawati became worried about her money.<\/p>\n
\"I'm going crazy. I still haven't received the rest of the
\nmoney,\" she said on Monday.<\/p>\n
The case was reported to the city police for further
\ninvestigation last month. (edt)<\/p>",
