The public has not received any response from the SEA Games
\nconsortium nor the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) on
\nthe specification of revenues and expenditures for the recently
\nheld SEA Games in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Through the letters column of a number of media I have
\nproposed to the consortium and KONI to issue a statement on the
\nfunds collected from the public and their subsequent use.<\/p>\n
This needs to be explained because the greater part of the
\nfunds came from the community who were forced to contribute to
\nthe funds. It is only logical that the public gets an
\nexplanation.<\/p>\n
The community does not need written reports without clear
\nspecifications. If only estimates are given on revenues and
\nexpenditures, it is clearly a scam, because what is reported can
\nbe either true or untrue.<\/p>\n
I apologize for my open questions. My intention is to avoid
\nthe practice of collusion in the use of the SEA Games funds as
\nwas the case with the latest national games (PON).<\/p>\n
According to Sinar Pagi daily the funds collected amount to Rp
\n194,828 billion, a fantastic amount of money.<\/p>\n
Our community obeys regulations. We will not accuse business
\ntycoons of collusion in the use of the funds because we know that
\nthey are respected and wealthy. What we want to see is openness.<\/p>\n
I need to add that the extension of the funds collection is a
\nbig burden for the community. I strongly disagree with the
\ncollection. But what can I do but accept the unpleasant
\nnecessity.<\/p>\n
Again, what we need from the consortium is a clear explanation
\nof the revenues from the SEA Games stickers and the expenditures.
\nI trust the matter will not continue to be kept pending without
\nany clarification.<\/p>\n
