SEA Games committee struggling with budget<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The 19th SEA Games competition committee has
\nannounced it only received Rp 200 million in funds from the Rp
\n4.5 billion budget.<\/p>\n
Competition committee chairman, Hindarto, said Wednesday the
\ncommittee had already overspent Rp 150 million.<\/p>\n
"At first the budget for holding events for the SEA Games was
\nset at Rp 5.35 billion but only 16 percent of the budget was
\ngiven during the committee's recent meeting," Hindarto said.<\/p>\n
According to Hindarto, holding events requires a lot of funds
\nand there are always difficulties obtaining such money.<\/p>\n
He said funds were urgently required for local and foreign
\nreferees and technical advisors from Asian federations and
\noverseas.<\/p>\n
"This does not include the cost of upgrading courses for
\nreferees and making their uniforms," Hindarto said.<\/p>\n
Hindarto said venues which are reportedly not yet completed
\nshould be taken into consideration before technical advisers
\ninspect them.<\/p>\n
"If technical advisers inspect the venues and they are not
\ncompleted, there is a possibility most events will have to be
\ndelayed," Hindarto said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Saptodarsono of the Senayan sports complex (Gelora
\nSenayan) management has denied allegations of collusion at the
\ncomplex.<\/p>\n
"It's not true that the Senayan sports complex management has
\nbeen involved in collusion, particularly involving renovation of
\nthe venues for the SEA Games," Saptodarsono said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Saptodarsono was referring to allegations contained in a
\nreport by A. Mone, a staff member of construction firm P.T.
\nArhabangun Nusantara.<\/p>\n
Mone said he suspected collusion when Gelora Senayan appointed
\nPT Hutama Karya (HK) and PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP) to
\nrenovate the venues at Senayan.<\/p>\n
"The two companies later subcontracted small projects to other
\ncompanies under the flag of the two companies. HK appointed PT
\nWidya Gika Perkasa and PT Tri Patra while PP appointed PD Subur
\nMenteng," Mone said as quoted by Kompas.<\/p>\n
Saptodarsono said the renovation of the venues was put up in a
\ntender determined by the State Secretariat.<\/p>\n
In another development, the Indonesian Wrestling Association
\nhas named 20 of 24 wrestlers as the main team for the Jakarta
\nGames.<\/p>\n
The 20 wrestlers consist of 10 for freestyle and 10 for Roman
\ngrego style. The freestyle wrestlers include Deddy Damhudi,
\nRidwan Drama, Andri Fahruriadi, Novi Rizal, Sukahar, Irawan
\nGultom, Dialex Sinaga, Dedy Supriyadi, Suryadi and Johonly
\nSaragih. Included in the Roman grego wrestling squad are Herman,
\nWahono, Zulhaidir, Deky Zulkifli, Surya Saputra, Anser Sianturi,
\nFatur Rahman, Ashari, Robert Kekry and Hery Susanto.<\/p>\n
The wrestlers are currently training at the air force
\nheadquarters in Cilangkap. (lnt)<\/p>",
