Scout's 36th anniversary next week<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Vice President Try Sutrisno will lead the 36th
\nanniversary ceremony of the Indonesian Scout Movement (Pramuka)
\nin Purworejo, Central Java, on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Pramuka chairman Himawan Sutanto said the theme of this year's
\nanniversary is \"Gearing Pramuka towards the 21st Century\".<\/p>\n
There will also be a series of exhibitions on development and
\nart performances by Pramuka members from all parts of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Some 3,120 participants will take part in the anniversary,
\nHimawan said.<\/p>\n
Special awards will be given to 18 provincial governors for
\ntheir dedication to the movement in their regions, he added.<\/p>\n
Himawan said Pramuka appeared to be losing appeal among senior
\nhigh school students, but not among primary and junior high
\nschool students and university students.<\/p>\n
\"Possibly, senior high school students have too many
\nextracurricular activities that prevent them from joining
\nPramuka,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The highlight of this year's anniversary is the annual camping
\nevent by Pramuka members in Purworejo, a spokesman for the
\nmovement, Nurman Armasulistya, told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
The camping event from Aug. 14 to Aug. 19, involving 1,760
\nmembers, will encourage participants to pay greater attention
\ntowards the agribusiness sector, Nurman said.<\/p>\n
Many young people are now drawn towards the industry because
\nof the lure of cash, he said.<\/p>\n
Young people should be made to realize the importance of the
\nagriculture sector to the nation, he said. (09)<\/p>",
