        "content": "<p>Scientists research 'super' pineapple<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian and Australian scientists have<br>\nteamed up to develop a super pineapple which could save the<br>\nindustry millions of dollars annually, officials said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>They want to eliminate blackheart and crown deterioration, two<br>\nmajor post-harvest problems affecting the pineapple industries in<br>\nboth countries.<\/p>\n<p>\"Scientists have begun research on the project which uses gene<br>\ntechnology in the search to control blackheart in pineapples and<br>\ncrown deterioration,\" the Australian High Commission here said in<br>\na statement.<\/p>\n<p>The A$900,000 (US$704,500) project is funded by the Australian<br>\nCenter for International Agricultural Research. It resulted from<br>\na memorandum signed last August between both governments.<\/p>",
