        "content": "<p>Schools unrepaired after 1992 quake<\/p>\n<p>MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara: Many schools in East Flores<br>\nregency, damaged by the 1992 earthquake, have not been repaired<br>\nfor lack of funding, the regent said last week.<\/p>\n<p>Hendrikus Henky Mukin said that scores of students at the<br>\nLedalero Catholic School of Philosophy had to study in the<br>\nmakeshift tents which they had erected after the quake.<\/p>\n<p>More than 2,000 people were reportedly killed and thousands<br>\nlost their homes in the quake which measured seven on the Richter<br>\nscale.<\/p>\n<p>The Ledalero school's rector Kondrad Kebung Beoang said the<br>\nschool was raising money to renovate or rebuild buildings,<br>\nincluding the campus' church.<\/p>\n<p>A reliable source said that much of the Rp 7 billion (US$2.8<br>\nmillion) in relief funds from the central government and donors<br>\nhad gone unaccounted for.<\/p>\n<p>The funds were used to build community buildings in Patihau,<br>\nWuring and other towns.
