SMA Negeri 2 Bantul has finally spoken out regarding a viral post\ncontaining a narrative that an alumnus experienced bullying to the point\nof developing a mental disorder after graduation. The school has stated\nit is ready to take responsibility.<\/p>\n
The Head of SMA Negeri 2 Bantul, Isti Fatimah, conveyed her deepest\napologies to the survivor, their family, and the wider community for the\ndiscomfort and situation that occurred. \u201cSMA Negeri 2 Bantul is fully\ncommitted to being open and cooperative, should there be an\ninvestigation or evaluation process in the future,\u201d Isti explained in a\nwritten statement received on Saturday (20\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are ready to take responsibility for this incident. If in the\nfuture it is proven that there were violations, abuse of authority, or\nnegligence committed by individual teachers or the school, we are ready\nto accept sanctions and consequences in accordance with civil service\nregulations and applicable laws,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n
Isti added that the school is using this incident as a momentum for\nevaluation and to ensure the learning environment at SMA Negeri 2 Bantul\nbecomes better for all students in the future. \u201cThe school is opening\nthe door to communication as widely as possible. For members of the\npublic, parents, or related parties who wish to convey criticism, input,\nor further information, please use the school\u2019s official channels so\nthat communication and service improvements can be well established,\u201d\nshe concluded.<\/p>\n
Previously, a social media post by an alumnus of SMAN 2 Bantul\nclaiming to have experienced bullying and subsequently suffering from\nmental illness after graduation drew public attention. The post was\nuploaded to a Threads account two days prior. The account owner also\nuploaded a medical certificate with the doctor\u2019s name and hospital stamp\nblurred. The medical certificate stated the account owner underwent\noutpatient treatment, with the diagnosis column listing several mental\ndisorders ranging from depression to bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am a graduate of SMA Negeri 2 Bantul, and do you know what I got\nafter graduating? Yes, that\u2019s right, according to my medical record\nphoto, I was diagnosed with mental illness after graduation,\u201d the\nThreads account stated. The uploader claimed they were accused of a\ncrime by a teacher and felt they were scapegoated. \u201cI was framed for a\ncrime at school by my own homeroom teacher and guidance counsellor, even\nthough I was the one who uncovered the crime. The irony is, I was made\nthe scapegoat by those irresponsible teachers, even though I was the\nhero. Worse, I was slandered at a parent-teacher meeting without my\nknowledge, resulting in my friends distancing themselves from me because\ntheir parents thought I was a bad kid, even though I never once smoked,\ndrank, or anything like that.
