School boy shoots his neighbor<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta Police arrested on Thursday a
\nsenior high school student for fatally shooting his neighbor in
\nthe head.<\/p>\n
The shooting, which a police source suggested may have been
\naccidental, occurred on Wednesday close to the victim's home on
\nJl. Lontar, Menteng Atas, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The schoolboy has been identified as Priya and the victim a
\n30-year old business man named Saefudin.<\/p>\n
Saefudin died on his way to Cipto Mangunkusumo General
\nHospital on Wednesday evening due to serious head injuries.<\/p>\n
His neighbor, Wardah, said she was due to play badminton with
\nhim when she heard a loud gun shot coming from the badminton
\ncourt, which is located next to Saefudin's house.<\/p>\n
\"I was picking up a shuttlecock from behind me when I heard a
\nloud sound. I then turned round and saw that Saefudin had already
\nfallen down on the court,\" she told reporters at the victim's
\nhouse on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Wardah, 22, said she also saw Priyo standing around three-
\nmeters away from the fallen man holding a gun.<\/p>\n
Priyo is a third-year student at the private August 17 Senior
\nHigh School in Tebet, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"We rushed to the victim to give him first aid,\" Wardah said.<\/p>\n
She said that Priyo had got the gun from a man named Kris, who
\nlives in a boarding house in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n
\"Kris left the scene after the incident,\" she said, adding
\nthat the victim was then rushed to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital
\nfor emergency medical treatment.<\/p>\n
A source at the South Jakarta Police station said the 17-year
\nold senior high school student got hold of the gun from Kris, who
\nwas later identified as a debt collector.<\/p>\n
\"We are still investigating the case. Apparently, the student
\nwas playing with the gun without Kris' supervision. He pointed it
\nat the victim's head and pulled the trigger,\" he said at the
\nSouth Jakarta Police station.<\/p>\n
Kris' whereabouts are still unknown.<\/p>\n
A police report available at the city police headquarters
\nstates the gun used in the incident was an air rifle.<\/p>\n
However, the police source said it was an FN handgun, a
\nfirearm used by military personnel. (asa)<\/p>",
