SCB launches new scheme<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), in cooperation
\nwith insurance company CIGNA International, launched on Saturday
\na new savings scheme combining a regular savings account with
\ninsurance coverage.<\/p>\n
"Our research shows that banking customers in Indonesia view
\ninsurance protection as a value-added benefit," Standard
\nChartered's country head of consumer banking, Farhad Irani, said.<\/p>\n
Savings Plus comes with free life insurance coverage, personal
\naccident coverage and a hospital cash plan.<\/p>\n
The life insurance coverage is for 100 percent of a customer's
\naverage balance, up to a maximum of Rp 200 million, while the
\npersonal accident coverage is equal to 200 percent of the
\ncustomer's average balance, up to a maximum of Rp 400 million.
\nThe hospital cash plan provides a daily payment of up to Rp
\n250,000 when a customer is hospitalized.<\/p>\n
The higher the balance in the customer's account, the higher
\nthe insurance protection, the bank said in a statement.<\/p>\n
CIGNA chief executive officer for Indonesia Steven Lee Novkov
\nsaid the combination of insurance coverage and a savings account
\nhad never before been offered.<\/p>\n
"We hope Standard Chartered customers will derive a benefit
\nfrom the scheme," he said.<\/p>\n
The London-based Standard Chartered has operated in Indonesia
\nsince 1863. It now has five branches -- in Jakarta, Bandung,
\nSemarang, Surabaya and Medan. (10)<\/p>",
