SCB customers win Rp 250m<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Five Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) customers
\nfrom Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya and Semarang recently won a total
\ncash prize of Rp 250 million (some US$30,000).<\/p>\n
The cash prizes, part of the Sweet Millions Draw, culminated a
\nsix-month promotion.<\/p>\n
Standard Chartered's head of consumer banking business, Farhad
\nIrani, handed over a check for Rp 50 million to each of the
\nwinners early last week.<\/p>\n
Over a thousand SCB customers were awarded gold brooches and
\npendants during the promotion, which lasted from October 1998 to
\nMarch 1999.<\/p>\n
Irani said the bank spent over Rp 1 billion on cash and gold
\nprizes for the promotion, which was meant to reward customers for
\nchoosing the bank.<\/p>\n
The bank opened its newly refurbished branch in Jakarta and a
\nnew Priority Banking Center on Jl. Sudirman last month.<\/p>\n
Standard Chartered Bank has operated in Indonesia for over 135
\nyears and has five branches in the country. The branches are
\nlocated in Jakarta; Medan, North Sumatra; Bandung, West Java;
\nSemarang, Central Java; and Surabaya, East Java. It also operates
