Indonesia\u2019s sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) auctioned\na fire horse painting of his own creation at the Democrat Party\u2019s 2026\nLunar New Year commemoration. The painting sold for Rp 6.5 billion to\nbusinessman Low Tuck Kwong.<\/p>\n

A representative of Low Tuck Kwong then symbolically received the\npainting, which was presented by Democrat Party Chairman Agus Harimurti\nYudhoyono (AHY).<\/p>\n
AHY then explained the significance of the painting, which was\ncreated with a spirit of transformation for an increasingly peaceful\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cSpecially to celebrate this Lunar New Year moment in the Year of the\nFire Horse, he created a Fire Horse painting whose spirit embodies\nenergy, strength, hard work, and transformation \u2014 which we wish to bring\nto an ever more progressive Indonesia, wrapped in peace and beauty,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
AHY explained that SBY\u2019s paintings were not only created for Lunar\nNew Year but also during the Sumatra disaster. He affirmed that the\nauction proceeds were intended to help the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut this is once again not the first time, because it can be said\nthat when the disaster struck in Sumatra, President SBY also held an\nauction and once again all the auction proceeds went towards helping the\npublic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
AHY stressed that the fire horse painting was created as a gesture of\ncompassion. The painting was made for underprivileged communities and\ndisaster-affected populations, particularly those of Chinese-Indonesian\ndescent.<\/p>\n
