SBY: Avoid unsafe sex, drugs<\/p>\n

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on the nation to
\navoid drugs, free sex and smoking as part of a healthy lifestyle
\ncampaign he launched on Friday.<\/p>\n
\"Let's make a healthy life part of our lifestyle,\" the
\nPresident said at the commemoration of National Health Day held
\nat the Prambanan Hindu temple complex east of Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n
\"A healthy life can be achieved through regular exercise, good
\nnutrition, breast feeding for infants, the use of clean water,
\ngood sanitation, and by staying away from narcotics, free sex and
\nsmoking,\" Susilo said.<\/p>\n
While underscoring the danger of smoking to health, the
\nPresident looked around and asked if there were any cigarette
\nproducers in the audience.<\/p>\n
\"Are there any representatives of Gudang Garam, Djarum and
\nSampoerna with us here?\" Susilo, who is a non-smoker, asked, to
\nthe laughter of the audience, referring to the country's major
\ncigarette makers.<\/p>\n
In the front row of the audience was Yogyakarta's Governor
\nSultan Hamengkubuwono X, whose family runs a cigarette company.
\nIts product, Kraton Dalem brand, is sold around Yogyakarta and
\nCentral Java.<\/p>\n
Among the audience were regents and mayors who have won
\ngovernment awards for their efforts in promoting health and
\nimproving health care for their people.<\/p>\n
Excise collected from cigarette companies contributes around
\nRp 25 trillion (US$2.7 billion) to state revenues annually.<\/p>\n
National Health Day falls on Nov. 12, but this year's
\ncommemoration took place on Friday due to the President's busy
\nschedule that included overseas trips to Santiago and Vientiane
\nto attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation and Association
\nof Southeast Asia Nations summits.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Susilo also promised to build more health
\ncenters in remote and poor areas to make health care more
\naccessible to the needy.<\/p>\n
The government, he said, would provide people in outlying
\nregions with more medical workers and cheap, quality medicines.<\/p>\n
\"In the long run, when our economy has grown to a higher
\nlevel, everybody will enjoy free health care,\" the President
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The commemoration was marked by the launch of the Combo DTP-
\nHepatitis B vaccine.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Minister of Health Siti Fadilah Supari presented
\nKsatria Bakti Husada awards to 40 regency and municipal
\nadministrations, and Manggala Karya Bakti awards to regents and
\nmayors for improving the quality of health for people within
\ntheir jurisdictions.<\/p>\n
National Health Day originated from the national campaign
\nagainst malaria launched by founding president Sukarno back in
\n1959.<\/p>",
