        "content": "<p>SBSI rejects manpower minister<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra: Hundreds of people claiming to represent<br>\n21 branches of the Indonesian Prosperous Labor Union (SBSI) in<br>\nthe province rallied on Friday against the appointment of Bomer<br>\nPasaribu as the new manpower minister.<\/p>\n<p>While marching to the provincial legislature, the crowd, which<br>\nincluded activists from 30 non-governmental organizations here,<br>\nshouted their opposition to Bomer's appointment.<\/p>\n<p>\"During the New Order regime he (Bomer) showed his opposition<br>\nto the establishment of a free labor union,\" protest coordinator<br>\nTimbul Simanungkalit said.<\/p>\n<p>\"He was also involved in the embezzlement of insurance company<br>\nPT Jamsostek's workers' fund, which remains unresolved,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>The protest proceeded without incident and demonstrators<br>\ndispersed later in the day.
