        "content": "<p>Saving the 'Bahasa Indonesia'<\/p>\n<p>Having followed the discussion about saving the national<br>\nheritage and protecting Bahasa Indonesia from adverse influences<br>\ncaused by the growing infiltration of foreign languages, which<br>\nsubsequently resulted in the government order to change all<br>\nEnglish signs into Bahasa Indonesia, I cannot help think that<br>\nthis might have backfired.<\/p>\n<p>I personally think that a government should encourage its<br>\npeople to study foreign languages in order to help create more<br>\njob opportunities, particularly in a country that tries to<br>\nattract tourists who, in all probability, don't study Indonesian<br>\nbefore coming to Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>I think the language is now thoroughly perverted with new<br>\nIndonesian words like bakeri (bakery), steik (steak), basemen<br>\n(basement), klub (club) and many more.<\/p>\n<p>The only people apparently benefiting from this whole business<br>\nare the billboard and sign makers.
