Save Kartini and baby's lives<\/p>\n
The photos of brides and grooms, most with babies in arms (The
\nJakarta Post , March 20, 2000) spoke volumes about the tolerance
\nof the world's largest Muslim society. Here were hundreds of
\ncouples, most already blessed with the gift of new life, being
\ngracefully accepted into the fold. My congratulations go to the
\nbrides and grooms and to the humane society that recognizes the
\nvalue of life in all its permutations, poverty included.<\/p>\n
It is sad indeed, that the United Arab Emirates does not
\ndisplay the deep understanding of life's regenerative force and
\nchooses to kill an Indonesian woman for bringing life into this
\nworld. I would implore the Indonesian government to put out its
\narms to one of its children and bring Kartini home so that she
\nand her baby can live and grow in a more humane world.<\/p>\n
We can only hope that the UAE opens its eyes and observes the
\nlargest Muslim society in the world existing in tolerance and
\nwith humanity.<\/p>\n
One poor maid, one tiny baby and death by stoning. It simply
\ncannot be allowed to happen.<\/p>\n
