Istanbul (ANTARA) - Saudi Arabia issued an emergency warning on\nTuesday regarding a \u201cpotential danger\u201d in Jeddah, Mecca and Taif,\nlocated in the country\u2019s western region, urging residents to seek\nshelter and follow official safety instructions.<\/p>\n
The warning was delivered through the National Early Warning Platform\nfor Emergencies, according to the Saudi Civil Defence.<\/p>\n
The authorities did not specify the type of potential danger\ninvolved.<\/p>\n
Residents were asked to remain calm and immediately proceed to the\nnearest safe location, particularly inside buildings or interior rooms\naway from windows, and to stay in a safe place until the danger had\npassed.<\/p>\n
The Civil Defence also urged the public to stay away from open areas,\nwindows, balconies and rooftops. Meanwhile, those outdoors were asked to\nenter the nearest building or take shelter behind sturdy barriers.<\/p>\n
Drivers receiving the warning were asked to pull over at locations\naway from bridges and tall buildings. The public was also told to avoid\ncrowds and dangerous areas and to follow instructions through official\nchannels.<\/p>\n
The warning was issued amid escalating clashes between Saudi Arabia\nand the Houthi group in Yemen.<\/p>\n
The group has carried out a series of missile and drone attacks on\nSaudi cities and infrastructure in recent days. Saudi forces have\nresponded by launching strikes against Houthi positions in Yemen.<\/p>\n
