        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Menhaj) Mochamad Irfan\nYusuf reported that the Saudi Arabian Government has ensured pilgrims\ncan continue to perform umrah (minor pilgrimage) safely despite\nescalating conflict in the Middle East region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecurity conditions in the territory of Saudi Arabia, particularly\nin Jeddah, Makkah, and Madinah, are reported to be safe and conducive.\nUmrah pilgrims currently in these areas continue to be able to perform\ntheir worship calmly and without significant disruption,\u201d said Menhaj\nMochamad Irfan Yusuf during a hearing session with Commission VIII in\nJakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the escalation of conflict in the Middle East has\nimpacted regional security stability and international aviation\ntransportation. Several countries in the region have closed their\nairspace, particularly routes that have been the main passages for\ninternational flights towards the Gulf region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe closure of these airspaces has caused disruptions to several\ninternational flights, especially those using transit schemes through\nseveral countries in the Middle East region,\u201d said Menhaj Irfan.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of these conditions, the departure and return processes\nof umrah pilgrims, particularly those using transit flights, have\nexperienced disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, he said, based on reports from government\nrepresentatives and coordination with Saudi Arabian authorities, the\nsecurity situation in major pilgrimage destination cities such as\nJeddah, Makkah, and Madinah remains safe.<\/p>\n<p>Based on reports received until 11 March 2026, a total of 50,374\numrah pilgrims remain in Saudi Arabia. Of this number, approximately\n14,115 people face potential delays in returning due to flight\ndisruptions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already called in all relevant PPIU (Penyelenggara\nPerjalanan Ibadah Umrah \u2013 Umrah Travel Operators) to ensure pilgrim\nhandling runs smoothly,\u201d said Irfan.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Indonesian Government advised the public to temporarily\npostpone umrah pilgrimages following the escalation of conflict in the\nMiddle East region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor now, regarding umrah departures, we are still advising the\npublic to postpone their departure due to the escalation of conflict. We\ndo not know how the situation will develop,\u201d said Deputy Minister of\nHajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the advisory serves as a mitigation measure to\nensure the safety of Indonesian citizens who will depart for the Holy\nLand.<\/p>",
