        "content": "<p>Saudi Arabia is furious after Iran launched attacks on a number of\nfacilities linked to the United States (US) within its territory. Saudi\nis preparing to retaliate against Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Summarised by detikcom, Wednesday 4 March 2026, Crown Prince Mohammed\nbin Salman spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in\nJanuary. At that time, MBS stressed that he would not allow attacks on\nIran to be launched from Saudi territory.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday 28 February, the US and Israel launched an attack on\nIran. The strike killed Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali\nKhamenei.<\/p>\n<p>Iran then launched retaliatory attacks on US bases in Gulf countries.\nOne of the countries affected by Iran\u2019s retaliatory strikes was Saudi\nArabia.<\/p>\n<p>Explosions were heard in Riyadh on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1\nMarch. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia later issued the strongest possible\ncondemnations of the Iran attack. Saudi said the attack had been\nsuccessfully intercepted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe attacks cannot be justified under any pretext or by any means,\nand the attack occurred despite Iranian authorities knowing that the\nKingdom had stated it would not allow its airspace or territory to be\nused to target Iran,\u201d according to the Saudi Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Saudi protests, Iran continued its retaliatory strikes\nagainst US facilities. On Tuesday 3 March, Iran\u2019s drone attack struck\nthe United States Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s strikes also hit the CIA headquarters in Riyadh. There were no\nreports of casualties from Iran\u2019s attacks in Saudi.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia Ready to Retaliate Against Iran<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, the Saudi government warned that it has a \u201cfull right\u201d\nto respond to Iran\u2019s attacks that hit Riyadh and other areas of the\ncountry. Saudi described the series of Iranian attacks as \u201cblatant and\ncowardly\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The warning, reported by Arab News on Wednesday 4 March 2026, was\ndelivered during a Cabinet session on Tuesday 3 March evening. The\nmeeting was chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), who also\nserves as Saudi Prime Minister, via video conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Kingdom reiterates its full right to take all necessary measures\nto protect the security, territorial integrity, citizens, residents, and\nits vital interests, including options to respond to the aggression,\u201d\naccording to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).<\/p>\n<p>In that Cabinet session, Saudi authorities also emphasised solidarity\nwith neighbouring countries whose territories were targeted by Iran\u2019s\nretaliatory attack on US facilities. This signals a united front against\nregional threats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReaffirming the full solidarity of Saudi Arabia with the friendly\ncountries whose territories are targeted by Iran\u2019s openly aggressive\nactions,\u201d SPA said.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Defence Ministry spokesperson Major General Turki al-Malki\nannounced that the country\u2019s air defences can intercept a number of\nthreats. However, the US Embassy experienced a \u201climited fire\u201d and minor\nmaterial damage.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Malki further announced that Saudi forces had intercepted and\ndestroyed eight additional drones targeting Riyadh and Al-Kharj on\nTuesday morning, 3 March. In a separate statement, the Saudi Foreign\nMinistry said the attack on the embassy violated the 1949 Geneva\nConvention and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran\u2019s repeated behaviour of this sort will push the region towards\nfurther escalation,\u201d the Saudi Foreign Ministry warned.<\/p>",
