Satelindo service declining

A few years ago Satelindo was in the forefront as a provider
of GSM services in Indonesia. However, recently, its services
have declined in quality. The blank spots seem to be wider than
the area within its scope. Signals can suddenly disappear and
then re-emerge while the user remains in the same place.

A few months ago, Satelindo even extended a bonus of free
subscription fees to some of its users. There was then a rumor
that a user proving himself to be a good subscriber for five
years at a stretch would be exempted from his subscription fee.

In fact, a few subscribers have complained about the same
thing. They do not expect to have this kind of bonus or gimmick,
but good basic service: stability of signal within a broad scope
of service. If this cannot be given, what good is Satelindo? Why
doesn't it just offer blank spots as its main product? Or even
free blank spots?

If I did not allow for the fact that I have used Satelindo for
about five years, so my number is already known by a lot of
colleagues, I would switch to Telkomsel or even Excelcom. I
believe my colleagues are also in the same boat. The other day,
for example, a colleague of mine inquired about the phone number
that Telkomsel could give him if he decided to switch to
Telkomsel. If BYRU and ACeS services are not costly, they may be
opted for. The Satelindo people must realize this, because most
customers are deeply concerned about having a broad area of
coverage and hate blank spots very much.

When will Satelindo improve its services. If it never wishes
to make any effort to introduce some improvements, it will be of
no use continuing to subscribe to Satelindo. I am ready to
abandon it, but then I am still hoping there will be some
improvement in the near future.

AMIR SIDHARTA

Jakarta
",
