As a densely populated, complex country we have achieved huge
\nsuccess in several fields. These advances are the result of hard
\nwork by all parties in their effort to develop the nation.
\nAchievement was possible because of strong tolerance and
\nsolidarity among the people.<\/p>\n
However, lately our unity has been put to the test by certain
\nirresponsible persons acting in the name of tribal affiliations,
\nreligion, race and societal groups (SARA). This has resulted in
\nthe destruction of infrastructure, loss of life, loss of property
\nand work.<\/p>\n
Material losses amounting to billions of rupiah could possibly
\nbe replaced under the existing mutual cooperation plan of the
\ncountry. But, what about moral destruction of the nation,
\nespecially among the younger generation who are yet to develop
\nself-assurance?<\/p>\n
If there are no preventive actions or serious penalties
\ndeveloped to quell rioting, it could well be that criminals with
\na preying eye on the possessions of others will try to cash in on
\nthe situation. They will take their chance to loot and destroy
\namid the rioting they prompted themselves. They believe they
\ncould escape the law, following all sorts of compromising
\npolicies from power holders.<\/p>\n
To cover their crime, the emotions of the masses can easily be
\nmanipulated. Who is on the losing side then?<\/p>\n
The achievements of 51 years of hard work could easily be
\nobliterated by riots of this nature.<\/p>\n
