Sanyo makes TV No. 5 million<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: PT Sanyo Electronics Indonesia (SEI) will boost its
\ntelevision production to 1.1 million units from 900,000 this year
\ndue to increasing global demand.<\/p>\n
"This year, we produce the fifth million TV and plans to
\nincrease our annual output," SEI president director Makoto Sugai
\nsaid in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The increase is part of the effort to maximize the company's
\nannual capacity of 1.3 million units.<\/p>\n
From its 900,000 production, some 80 percent is exported to 50
\ncountries in ASEAN, Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand,
\nRussia and Japan while the remaining 20 percent is for domestic
\nmarket.<\/p>\n
At present, SEI produced conventional TV, flat screens and LCD
\n(liquid crystal display).<\/p>\n
"We are committed to develop TV production in Indonesia,
\nfocusing on LCD to meet the high end market demand. Such
\ndevelopment will make Indonesia the basis for TV production,"
\nSugai said.<\/p>\n
SEI, he added, could produce up to 30,000 LCD per year and the
\ncapacity is still able to meet market demand to next year. --
