        "content": "<p>The world of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) is considered to\npossess great potential in enriching Indonesia\u2019s literary and cultural\ntreasury. The scientific tradition of the pesantren, blended with the\ncreativity of santri (students), is seen as capable of producing\nliterary works that record the dynamics of life and changing times.<\/p>\n<p>This sentiment was expressed during the Nusantara Santri Literature\nHalaqoh and the launch of the National Santri Literary Anthology Book,\norganised by Risalah NU Magazine at the Yacob Oetama Hall, Nahdlatul\nUlama University of Indonesia (UNUSIA), Jakarta, on Friday\n(18\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The anthology book contains works by 50 selected santri from the 2025\nNational Short Story Competition. These individuals were chosen from\napproximately 500 participants competing from various regions across\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by numerous religious scholars, Nahdlatul\nUlama (NU) figures, academics, litterateurs, cultural observers, santri,\nuniversity students, members of Fatayat NU DKI Jakarta, as well as other\nparticipants and guests.<\/p>\n<p>During the book discussion session, the committee invited several\nspeakers with backgrounds in literature and journalism. These included\nDinaldo, an NU activist and literary writer; Yudhiarma, a book author\nand senior journalist; and Jahid Lukman, who also served as one of the\njudges for the 2025 National Short Story Competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Nusantara Santri Literature Halaqoh Committee,\nJahid Lukman, stated that the activity serves as a momentum to\nstrengthen literacy traditions and literary creativity among santri. The\nHalaqoh also provides a meeting space for santri, writers, literacy\nactivists, cultural observers, academics, and pesantren enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, literature should not merely be viewed as a work of\nart and creative expression. Literature can also serve as a part of the\nintellectual tradition that flourishes within the pesantren\nenvironment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, literature is not only viewed as a work of art and\ncreative expression, but also as a part of the pesantren\u2019s intellectual\ntradition,\u201d Jahid said in a written statement received by Republika,\nSaturday (19\/9\/2026).<\/p>",
