Sanae Takaichi has been officially reappointed as Prime Minister of\nJapan, continuing her leadership following a decisive election\nvictory.<\/p>\n
As reported by AFP on Wednesday (18\/2\/2026), the appointment was made\nten days after Takaichi\u2019s victory. Takaichi became Japan\u2019s first female\nPrime Minister in October and secured a two-thirds majority for her\nparty in the snap lower house elections held on 8 February.<\/p>\n
Takaichi said she believed her election victory reflected the\npublic\u2019s desire for \u201csignificant policy shifts\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Including] responsible and proactive fiscal policy, fundamental\nstrengthening of security policy, and enhancement of government\nintelligence capabilities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
