Samsung has confirmed it will gradually halt sales of its first triple-folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, just months after its launch in late 2025. The decision, starting in South Korea and extending to the US once stocks are depleted, appears driven by high production costs, rising component prices, and global RAM shortages that have squeezed profit margins. This move underscores challenges in the premium foldable market, with limited stock—around 6,000 units in Korea—highlighting potential demand issues for the innovative device.

Samsung is reportedly set to discontinue sales of its first
triple-folding (trifold) phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, merely months
after it was officially launched.

This information was conveyed by a Samsung spokesperson to Bloomberg.
In the report, Samsung confirmed that sales of the Galaxy Z TriFold will
be halted gradually.

Sales will first be stopped in South Korea, before finally being
discontinued in the United States (US) after all remaining stock has
been sold.

The Galaxy Z TriFold itself only began selling in the US at the end
of January 2026, or about three months after its initial debut.

Signals of the sales halt were actually visible as early as the
beginning of March.

On Samsung’s official US website, the company no longer displays
information on new restock schedules for the device, even though it had
previously been promised.

Now, Samsung is instead directing consumers to purchase remaining
units through physical stores (Samsung Experience Store), without
additional online purchase options.

Samsung has not detailed the official reasons behind the halt in
sales of the Galaxy Z TriFold. However, several reports suggest that
this was triggered by the device’s production costs, which are
considered very high.

In addition, issues of rising component prices and global RAM
shortages are also suspected to have influenced production costs.

This situation is said to have sufficiently pressured Samsung’s
profit margins, reportedly becoming a factor driving the discontinuation
of sales for this device.

A previous report by South Korean media Dong-A Ilbo stated that the
Galaxy Z TriFold was only available in around 6,000 units in the
domestic market since its release on 12 December 2025.

The exact number of Galaxy Z TriFold stocks in other countries,
including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the
US, is not yet known.
",
