        "content": "<p>Samarinda garden used for study<\/p>\n<p>SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: The Samarinda Botanical garden<br>\n(KRS) will be developed to become a research center for flora and<br>\nfauna in East Kalimantan.<\/p>\n<p>Earth Foundation chairman Ade Fadli said here on Sunday that<br>\nthe decision was made in a coordination meeting between local<br>\nnongovernmental organizations and the local administration.<\/p>\n<p>Fadli said the botanical garden should improve its function,<br>\nnot only as a recreation resort, but also as a conservation area<br>\nand model for environmental conservation in the province.<\/p>\n<p>\"That is why local NGOs and the provincial administration plan<br>\nto use the botanical garden as a research center for flora and<br>\nfauna in the province,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mulawarman University, which was given the 300-hectare<br>\nbotanical garden by CV Kayu Mahakam, a forest concessionaire, in<br>\n1974, has worked in cooperation with the German and Japanese<br>\ngovernments to manage it since 1976. --Antara<\/p>",
