        "content": "<p>Samadikun expected to attend court hearing<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Former owner of the now-defunct Bank Modern, Samadikun Hartono,<br>\nwho was earlier sentenced by the Supreme Court to four years in<br>\njails for corruption of Rp 1.7 trillion (US$200 million), is<br>\nexpected to attend a hearing at the Central Jakarta District<br>\nCourt on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing will be held due to a judicial review filed by<br>\nSamadikun, who had earlier escaped when prosecutors tried to<br>\nprosecute the verdict, from a certain unknown place, Antara state<br>\nnews agency reported on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I don&apos;t know whether he will show up or not, but we will wait<br>\nfor until Monday,&quot; Central Jakarta Prosecutors Office head Salman<br>\nMariyadi said.<\/p>\n<p>Salman said if Samadikun failed to show up, the prosecutors<br>\nwould ask the court that Samadikun should be attended in the<br>\nhearing of his judicial review.<\/p>\n<p>However, according to the Supreme Court decree No. 1\/1980, a<br>\ndefendant may attend or skip the hearing of a judicial review.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear how and when Samadikun submitted his judicial<br>\nreview.<\/p>\n<p>He reportedly attached a new evidence (novum) of the Master of<br>\nRefinancing and Note Issuance (MRNIA) between him and the<br>\nIndonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) in his judicial<br>\nreview. The agreement was signed in December last year.<\/p>\n<p>Samadikun was convicted for four years in jail for guilty<br>\ncorrupting Rp 1.7 trillion of the Central Bank Liquidation Loan<br>\nto his bank.<\/p>\n<p>Using a permit from the Attorney General Office, he reportedly<br>\nfled to Japan for medical service at Kokuro Memorial Hospital<br>\nbefore the Supreme Court sentenced him.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors and Immigration Directorate of the Ministry of<br>\nJustice and Human Rights earlier blamed each other for the escape<br>\nof Samadikun.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Central Jakarta District Court, which had<br>\nestablished a panel of judges for the judicial review, reportedly<br>\nadjourned the hearing from July 28 to Aug. 8.<\/p>",
