Samadikun expected to attend court hearing<\/p>\n

Former owner of the now-defunct Bank Modern, Samadikun Hartono,
\nwho was earlier sentenced by the Supreme Court to four years in
\njails for corruption of Rp 1.7 trillion (US$200 million), is
\nexpected to attend a hearing at the Central Jakarta District
\nCourt on Monday.<\/p>\n
The hearing will be held due to a judicial review filed by
\nSamadikun, who had earlier escaped when prosecutors tried to
\nprosecute the verdict, from a certain unknown place, Antara state
\nnews agency reported on Friday.<\/p>\n
"I don't know whether he will show up or not, but we will wait
\nfor until Monday," Central Jakarta Prosecutors Office head Salman
\nMariyadi said.<\/p>\n
Salman said if Samadikun failed to show up, the prosecutors
\nwould ask the court that Samadikun should be attended in the
\nhearing of his judicial review.<\/p>\n
However, according to the Supreme Court decree No. 1\/1980, a
\ndefendant may attend or skip the hearing of a judicial review.<\/p>\n
It is unclear how and when Samadikun submitted his judicial
\nreview.<\/p>\n
He reportedly attached a new evidence (novum) of the Master of
\nRefinancing and Note Issuance (MRNIA) between him and the
\nIndonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) in his judicial
\nreview. The agreement was signed in December last year.<\/p>\n
Samadikun was convicted for four years in jail for guilty
\ncorrupting Rp 1.7 trillion of the Central Bank Liquidation Loan
\nto his bank.<\/p>\n
Using a permit from the Attorney General Office, he reportedly
\nfled to Japan for medical service at Kokuro Memorial Hospital
\nbefore the Supreme Court sentenced him.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors and Immigration Directorate of the Ministry of
\nJustice and Human Rights earlier blamed each other for the escape
\nof Samadikun.<\/p>\n
Separately, Central Jakarta District Court, which had
\nestablished a panel of judges for the judicial review, reportedly
\nadjourned the hearing from July 28 to Aug. 8.<\/p>",
