        "content": "<p>Salomon, Bakrie tie up<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Salomon Brothers, a major American investment<br>\nbank, and PT Bakrie Securities have agreed to establish a joint<br>\nventure that will engage in international capital raising and<br>\nfinancial advice.<\/p>\n<p>Siddharta Moersjid, the communications manager of the widely<br>\ndiversified Bakrie Group, said yesterday that the joint venture<br>\nis subject to certain conditions, which includes government<br>\napproval.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the tie-up deal supplements a separate joint<br>\ncooperation agreement recently reached with Bakrie Securities.<br>\nSalomon Brothers supports PT Bakrie Securities in Jakarta in<br>\nproviding assistance to Indonesian issuers wanting to raise funds<br>\nthrough foreign investors.<\/p>\n<p>Bakrie Securities is wholly owned by the PT Bakrie Finance<br>\nCorporation, one of the Bakrie Group subsidiaries listed on the<br>\nJakarta Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n<p>The Bakrie Group, with total assets of around US$1.5 billion,<br>\nalso operates in the infrastructure support business,<br>\nplantations, telecommunications, banking, insurance, money<br>\nbrokerage, mining property and mass media.<\/p>\n<p>Salomon Brothers has been active in Indonesia since 1990.
