Surabaya \u2014 The Secretary-General of Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama\n(PBNU) for the 2022\u20132027 term, Saifullah Yusuf, has stated that PBNU is\ncurrently focusing on organisational consolidation to prepare for the\n35th Nahdlatul Ulama Muktamar, scheduled to take place in mid-2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything is currently undergoing consolidation in preparation for\nthe Muktamar. Our focus is now entirely on the Muktamar, planned for\nJuly or August,\u201d said Gus Ipul, his familiar name, whilst attending a\nbreaking of the fast gathering at the PWNU East Java building in\nSurabaya on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He explained that Muktamar preparations encompass internal\norganisational consolidation and administrative verification of the\nleadership structures entitled to participate in the organisation\u2019s\nhighest forum.<\/p>\n
Beyond organisational consolidation, Yusuf stated that PBNU is\ncapitalising on the opportunity for courtesy visits with senior Islamic\nscholars to seek their blessings ahead of the Muktamar.<\/p>\n
The courtesy visit agenda includes meetings with numerous senior kiai\nat various Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in East Java.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter that, I usually continue with visits to several scholars,\nparticularly senior kiai such as those at Ploso, Lirboyo, Kiai Hamid in\nPasuruan, Kiai Fuad in Sidogiri, and several others to seek their\nblessings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Regarding the venue for the Muktamar, he stated that this remains\nunder discussion and has not yet been decided, as it must follow\norganisational meeting procedures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe venue has not yet been determined. There are several options,\nbut it will be decided through the formal meeting process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Separately, Yusuf, who also serves as Indonesia\u2019s Minister of Social\nAffairs, stated that PBNU has established a verification panel tasked\nwith verifying leadership documentation to ensure that those entitled to\nparticipate in the Muktamar are properly registered.<\/p>\n
The panel, he continued, is chaired by Muhammad Nuh as part of PBNU\u2019s\nSyuriah council and includes several other board members.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis team is responsible for reviewing all documents related to\nleadership decision letters, as this concerns who is entitled to\nparticipate in the Muktamar,\u201d Gus Ipul said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he emphasised that Muktamar participants must come from\nlegitimate leadership positions with documents fully signed by the Rais\nAam, Ketua Umum, Katib Aam, and Sekretaris Jenderal.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose entitled to participate are those who are fully signed, namely\nby the Rais Aam, Ketua Umum, Katib Aam, and Sekjen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, he also urged all branch and regional board members\nto focus attention on the preparation stages leading to the Muktamar to\nensure smooth implementation.<\/p>\n
