Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) President Said Iqbal\nstated that his organisation has consistently supported President\nPrabowo Subianto since 2014. Speaking at the KSPI National Working\nMeeting in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, he noted that KSPI had declared\nits backing before other parties had taken a stance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand and believe in President Prabowo. From 2014, even\nbefore the Gerindra Party announced his candidacy, we declared our\nsupport at GBK. We invited him and stood with him when others were\nhesitant to take a position,\u201d Said Iqbal said. He reiterated that this\nsupport remains firm, telling members that KSPI will continue to stand\nwith President Prabowo at next year\u2019s congress.<\/p>\n
However, he emphasised that KSPI still provides criticism and\nsuggestions to the government, insisting that democratic space must\nremain open. He recounted conveying to party officials the importance of\nallowing differences within a framework of shared goals.<\/p>\n
Iqbal also praised the free nutritious meal programme (MBG), noting\nthat the idea had been discussed a decade ago during a meeting with\nPrabowo in Hambalang. He said the President has now realised the vision\nof feeding children from all backgrounds, including workers, farmers,\nfishermen, police, and soldiers. While acknowledging the programme\u2019s\nimplementation, he stressed that any managerial or governance\nshortcomings must be rectified.<\/p>\n
