        "content": "<p>DPR RI Commission XI member Said Abdullah has highlighted the\nimportance of improving technology systems in tax administration to\nsupport increased state revenues. Said emphasised that the development\nof the Coretax system by the Direktorat Jenderal Pajak is a strategic\nstep that deserves support, as it aims to create data integration and\nenhance the system\u2019s ability to read tax obligations. According to Said,\nthe implementation of Coretax has so far shown progress, particularly in\nstrengthening tax administration capacity. However, he acknowledged that\nseveral technical obstacles have emerged since its initial rollout and\nhave recurred recently. He assessed that before being launched to the\npublic, the system should have undergone a series of thorough tests,\nfrom security tests and load tests to other technical evaluations. This\nis important to ensure the system is truly ready for use and does not\ndisrupt services to taxpayers. \u201cIf usage disruptions occur several\ntimes, I worry that taxpayer compliance in reporting taxes will decline\ndue to system issues,\u201d Said stated in his comments, quoted on Thursday\n(30\/4). Furthermore, he reminded that tax revenues are the backbone of\nfinancing government programmes and national development. Therefore,\nsystem disruptions that impact taxpayer compliance could potentially\nreduce state revenues, especially amid global economic challenges that\nalso affect domestic conditions. Said also questioned the maintenance\nmechanism of the system, which he deemed inappropriate. He cited\npractices in the banking sector, which generally conduct maintenance at\nnight to minimise service disruptions. \u201cWhy isn\u2019t maintenance done at\nnight? Doesn\u2019t the banking world often perform system maintenance at\nnight? Isn\u2019t that a common protocol shared among institutions?\u201d Said\nremarked. On the other hand, Said highlighted the situation regarding\nthe annual SPT reporting deadline of 30 April 2026. He revealed that\naround 3.3 million taxpayers have yet to submit their SPT, even though\nthe government has extended the initial deadline from 31 March 2026. In\nhis view, system obstacles could hinder reporting, while taxpayers still\nface penalties if they fail to meet their obligations. Therefore, he\nurged the Direktorat Jenderal Pajak to pay special attention to ensure\ntaxpayers can still report. \u201cI hope there is attention from the\nDirektorat Jenderal Pajak on this, so that taxpayers can still report,\nfor example by granting a one-day extension due to IT system issues,\u201d he\nsaid. He added that, given that corporate taxpayer SPT reporting remains\nopen until 31 May 2026, providing additional time for individual\ntaxpayers would not pose a problem. \u201cIf Coretax is problematic, it\nshouldn\u2019t disrupt strategic policy targets, so it\u2019s best to postpone;\nthe Direktorat Jenderal Pajak can just manage the technical timing, so\nthat the number of taxpayers filing SPT can exceed 15 million and\nsupport state revenues,\u201d Said stated.<\/p>",
