Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Ahmad Sahroni, has stated that there is no need to establish a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) for the acid attack case involving human rights activist Andrie Yunus, as the investigation has already been transferred to the TNI's Pushpom. Advocacy groups, including the Team for Democracy Advocacy (TAUD), are urging President Prabowo Subianto to form an independent TGPF to uncover the intellectual perpetrators and command chain behind the attack, citing historical precedents like the Munir murder and Kanjuruhan incident. They argue that such a team, comprising civil society and integrity figures, would ensure comprehensive justice and prevent future human rights violations, amid concerns over stalled police progress and potential political interference.

Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Ahmad Sahroni, believes
that the formation of a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) is unnecessary in
the revelation of the human rights activist Andrie Yunus’s case. This is
because, he stated, the investigation into the acid splashing incident
has already been handed over by the police to the military
institution.

“If it’s TGPF, it’s actually not needed anymore because it has been
handed over to the TNI’s Pushpom,” he said when met in the DPR complex,
Jakarta, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

He stated that the formation of a fact-finding team is only needed if
the investigation process does not go through the TNI. “If now it has
been handed over, the rest is with the TNI,” said this NasDem Party
politician.

Previously, in a meeting with Commission III of the DPR, the Team for
Democracy Advocacy (TAUD) urged President Prabowo Subianto to form a
joint fact-finding team to thoroughly uncover the Andrie Yunus case.

Andrie’s legal team said that historically, TPF has played a role in
uncovering various past human rights violation cases, such as the murder
of Munir Said, the Kanjuruhan incident, and the Cicak-Buaya conflict at
the KPK.

TAUD representative, Gema Gita Persada, said that the formation of
this independent fact-finding team aims to uncover the intellectual
authors in the Andrie Yunus case. He also believes that the TPF’s role
is more comprehensive in investigating allegations of a command
chain.

TAUD believes that the acid splashing against Andrie Yunus was driven
by parties with power in certain institutions. Therefore, the
possibility of a command chain needs to be traced by an independent TPF
involving civil society and figures of integrity.

According to him, the formation of an independent TPF would not only
be able to thoroughly uncover the acid splashing case against Andrie
Yunus. Gema said that the prosecution of human rights violence cases
through official TPF intervention could prevent the recurrence of
similar incidents.

“So the push to form an independent fact-finding team is not merely
to uncover the case, but further to safeguard the continuity of
democracy in the future. We hope the case against Andrie becomes the
last one,” he said at the YLBHI office, Jakarta, on Monday, 30 March
2026.

Another TAUD member, Fadhil Alfathan, assessed that there is no
reason for the state not to accommodate public aspirations to form an
independent TPF in the investigation of the Andrie Yunus case. According
to him, President Prabowo Subianto must immediately officially form an
independent TPF with clear authority and duties.

“And filled with a composition of integrity figures from various
disciplines,” he said at the YLBHI office, Jakarta, on Monday, 30 March
2026.

Moreover, he said that two weeks after Andrie Yunus was splashed with
acid, there has been no significant development in the investigation
from law enforcement authorities. The police only announced two
perpetrators who were the field executors on 18 March.

Meanwhile, at the same time, the TNI stated that it has detained four
suspected perpetrators involved in the acid splashing against Andrie
Yunus. All four are active soldiers serving in the Detachment of the TNI
Strategic Intelligence Agency Headquarters.

According to Fadhil, the stagnation of the investigation process by
law enforcement officials is reasonably suspected due to non-juridical
factors. He is concerned that political obstacles will hinder the
completion of the investigation up to the command chain.

“The President can prevent further political excesses by forming an
independent fact-finding team in accordance with the public’s desire for
the revelation of the acid splashing case to be oriented towards
justice,” said this Director of LBH Jakarta.
",
