Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Ahmad Sahroni, believes\nthat the formation of a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) is unnecessary in\nthe revelation of the human rights activist Andrie Yunus\u2019s case. This is\nbecause, he stated, the investigation into the acid splashing incident\nhas already been handed over by the police to the military\ninstitution.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it\u2019s TGPF, it\u2019s actually not needed anymore because it has been\nhanded over to the TNI\u2019s Pushpom,\u201d he said when met in the DPR complex,\nJakarta, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.<\/p>\n
He stated that the formation of a fact-finding team is only needed if\nthe investigation process does not go through the TNI. \u201cIf now it has\nbeen handed over, the rest is with the TNI,\u201d said this NasDem Party\npolitician.<\/p>\n
Previously, in a meeting with Commission III of the DPR, the Team for\nDemocracy Advocacy (TAUD) urged President Prabowo Subianto to form a\njoint fact-finding team to thoroughly uncover the Andrie Yunus case.<\/p>\n
Andrie\u2019s legal team said that historically, TPF has played a role in\nuncovering various past human rights violation cases, such as the murder\nof Munir Said, the Kanjuruhan incident, and the Cicak-Buaya conflict at\nthe KPK.<\/p>\n
TAUD representative, Gema Gita Persada, said that the formation of\nthis independent fact-finding team aims to uncover the intellectual\nauthors in the Andrie Yunus case. He also believes that the TPF\u2019s role\nis more comprehensive in investigating allegations of a command\nchain.<\/p>\n
TAUD believes that the acid splashing against Andrie Yunus was driven\nby parties with power in certain institutions. Therefore, the\npossibility of a command chain needs to be traced by an independent TPF\ninvolving civil society and figures of integrity.<\/p>\n
According to him, the formation of an independent TPF would not only\nbe able to thoroughly uncover the acid splashing case against Andrie\nYunus. Gema said that the prosecution of human rights violence cases\nthrough official TPF intervention could prevent the recurrence of\nsimilar incidents.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the push to form an independent fact-finding team is not merely\nto uncover the case, but further to safeguard the continuity of\ndemocracy in the future. We hope the case against Andrie becomes the\nlast one,\u201d he said at the YLBHI office, Jakarta, on Monday, 30 March\n2026.<\/p>\n
Another TAUD member, Fadhil Alfathan, assessed that there is no\nreason for the state not to accommodate public aspirations to form an\nindependent TPF in the investigation of the Andrie Yunus case. According\nto him, President Prabowo Subianto must immediately officially form an\nindependent TPF with clear authority and duties.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd filled with a composition of integrity figures from various\ndisciplines,\u201d he said at the YLBHI office, Jakarta, on Monday, 30 March\n2026.<\/p>\n
Moreover, he said that two weeks after Andrie Yunus was splashed with\nacid, there has been no significant development in the investigation\nfrom law enforcement authorities. The police only announced two\nperpetrators who were the field executors on 18 March.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, at the same time, the TNI stated that it has detained four\nsuspected perpetrators involved in the acid splashing against Andrie\nYunus. All four are active soldiers serving in the Detachment of the TNI\nStrategic Intelligence Agency Headquarters.<\/p>\n
According to Fadhil, the stagnation of the investigation process by\nlaw enforcement officials is reasonably suspected due to non-juridical\nfactors. He is concerned that political obstacles will hinder the\ncompletion of the investigation up to the command chain.<\/p>\n
