Police have revealed the actions of Saepul (26), who murdered and\ndismembered a man identified as K (51) in a rented room in the Cipayung\narea of Depok. The suspect is said to have joined a group for same-sex\nrelationships, or gay community.<\/p>\n
\u201cA check of the suspect\u2019s mobile phone showed that the suspect is a\nmember of a gay community group. The initial introduction between the\nsuspect and the victim was through the social media app Hornet,\u201d said\nKompol Dimitri Mahendra Kartika, Unit 1 Head of the Mobile Investigation\nSub-Directorate at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police\u2019s General Criminal\nInvestigation Directorate, when contacted on Thursday (6\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
Dimitri said Saepul had planned the theft of the victim\u2019s belongings\nand the murder. Hornet is an app for same-sex relationships,\nparticularly gay men, according to its description on Google Play.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe planning occurred because the suspect wanted to steal the\nvictim\u2019s motorcycle and belongings, and to take possession of the\nvictim\u2019s property, and there was an intention to kill the victim,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
The sack containing the body had been lying on vacant land since 24\nJuly 2026. Residents had no idea the sack contained human remains, until\nfinally on Tuesday, 4 August, residents took the initiative to burn the\nsack, which they thought contained rubbish.<\/p>\n
Based on identification and crime scene processing, witness\nstatements, and other evidence, the police investigation led to a man\nnamed Saepul (26). Saepul was eventually arrested by the Mobile\nInvestigation Sub-Directorate team of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police\u2019s\nGeneral Criminal Investigation Directorate while fleeing in Pandeglang,\nBanten, on Wednesday (5\/8).<\/p>\n
Jakarta Metropolitan Police Head of Public Relations, Kombes Budi\nHermanto, explained that K initially became acquainted with the suspect\nSaepul through social media. The acquaintance continued until the two\nagreed to meet at a rented room in the Cipayung area of Depok City.<\/p>\n
\u201cSaepul (SA) and the victim became acquainted through social media\nbefore agreeing to meet at a rented room in the Cipayung area on 23 July\n2026,\u201d Budi told reporters on Wednesday (5\/8).<\/p>\n
The meeting between the two apparently led to an argument. Following\nthe argument, Saepul then killed K by stabbing him with a knife.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe meeting ended in an argument until the suspect stabbed the\nvictim in the stomach and slit the victim\u2019s neck using a knife,\u201d Budi\nexplained.<\/p>\n
After ensuring K was dead, Saepul attempted to cover his tracks.\nSaepul then cut off the victim\u2019s upper thighs, then wrapped them\nseparately from the victim\u2019s torso using sacks.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspect mutilated the victim\u2019s body at the upper thighs, wrapped\nthe body using black plastic and a sack, then dumped the victim\u2019s body\nin the Tanah Merah area, while the two severed legs were dumped into a\nriver in the Pitara area, Pancoran Mas,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n
After dumping the body, Saepul immediately fled with Kunaefi\u2019s\nmotorcycle.
