Indonesian organisations including PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia and various religious and corporate entities have distributed sacrificial meat across remote and underdeveloped regions to bolster food security and social welfare. The efforts, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals, aim to provide essential protein sources to vulnerable communities and strengthen local economies through inclusive aid distribution.

Nutrition requirements remain a challenge for communities in
Indonesia’s remote, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions, where limited
food distribution access and geographical barriers often hinder routine
animal protein consumption. Social initiatives targeting these isolated
areas play a crucial role in improving living standards and fostering
community solidarity.

PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia’s Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM)
distributed 1,000 Eid al-Adha sacrificial meat packages to four 3T
regions in Maluku and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The initiative involved
slaughtering four cattle to create 1,000 packages, directly delivered to
beneficiary families through hygienic processes coordinated with Baitul
Qur’an Al Izzah Foundation, Nusantara Volunteers Foundation, and local
volunteers.

In these areas, sacrificial meat provides more than just joy for
families rarely able to access animal protein, said PLN EPI Secretary
Mamit Setiawan. The programme aligns with the company’s environmental,
social, and governance (ESG) commitments and sustainable development
goals, particularly poverty alleviation and welfare improvement.

A recipient in Watohari Village, East Flores, Fajarulina (35),
expressed gratitude: “We rarely eat meat like this, and the children are
overjoyed today.” The activity also boosts local economies through
community involvement in distribution and strengthens social
solidarity.

Meanwhile, PPP organised simultaneous slaughter and distribution
across multiple Indonesian regions during Eid al-Adha 1447H. Jakarta’s
Istiqlal Mosque received 65 cattle and 13 goats for sacrifice, including
one from President Prabowo Subianto, with 400 meat packages distributed
to residents. Solo’s Istiqomah Mosque used reusable containers to reduce
plastic waste, while NU Care-LAZISNU prioritised aid for previously
underserved communities, distributing 43 cattle and 149 goats worth Rp2
billion. PT Askrindo Syariah distributed four cattle and 35 goats, and
McDonald’s Indonesia ran its “McD Share Sacrifice” initiative across 23
locations in 11 provinces.
",
